Nonverbal Communication

Nonverbal communication is the process of sending and receiving messages without using words in any way. Nonverbal communication goes hand in hand with verbal communication, it usually emphasizes or adds context to what someone is saying. There'sa saying that "verbal communication is only about 7% of actual communication". Which is true to an extent, nonverbal communication is such a huge part of communication, and is such a subtle thing yet subconsciously we all pay very heavy attention to it. It can be anywhere from a facial expression, to the angle someone is standing. Some nonverbal social cues are easier to spot than others.

Body Language

Whether you notice it or not, whenever you're talking with someone, you're sending and receiving wordless signals. Every single nonverbal signal you give is crucial, it can determine how a person responds to you and how the conversation goes. The gestures you make, your body posture, and even your tone of voice, can be heavy factors in sending messages. Even if you're silent, you are still communicating nonverbally. In some scenarios, what you're saying and what your body language says can be two totally different things. The way you listen, move, react, etc; these all send messages to a person you're communicating with. These signals tell a person how much you care and even whether you're being truthful or not. If someone's nonverbal signals match with what they're saying, then they are likely being truthful. That doesn't exactly mean if they don't match that they are for sure lying, but these things are all purely theoretical.
